Aug 10, Delores rated it really liked it Shelves: One thing I have to rave about: Her first-person narrative is light and funny and easily accessible to fans of Meg Cabot, Emily Franklin, and Ann Brashares. She’s a fantastic character, and it’s great to watch her evolution as a person as the novel goes on.

Because judging by what happened to her life, you might want to be an awkward too. This entry was posted in Book Review and tagged Book Review. It fits well with the theme but not instantly my favorite cover style. There’s drama, romance, comedy – and with action to boot. Mackenzie doesn’t know how to handle it.

Nevertheless, this book is funny, refreshing, and a quick read. The same reason why I didn’t gave Anna and the French kiss 5 stars. It is a quick and fun and hilarious read that deals with coming out of your own shell and learning how to trust again. Amazon Second Chance Pass it on, trade it in, give it a second life. I just love her! This book was super short and easy to read. Sucked into a whirlwind of rock stars, paparazzi, and free designer clothes, she even catches the eye of the most popular guy at school.

Probably a little young for my daughter, but it is always good to know some actual decent, clean books for tweens. Teenagers don’t talk like that.

I adored Mackenzie, because, well, she felt real. Paparazzi are hanging out at school waiting to badger MacKenzie and designers are sending her packages overflowing with clothing. Bad – I felt like the secondary characters could have been fleshed out a little more. It’s not the first Marni Bates book I’ve read, but it’s definitely the best one.


On the one hand, this makes the book fun, relatable, and very much in the moment, yet, on the other hand all the modern pop culture references may alienate some readers who are not familiar with them.
