The Vlagh is a davud whose more remarkable power is the ability to consciously direct the evolution of its minions, adapting them to the situation as required the evolution is not instantaneous, but it takes months or even just days, as it is seen in the second book, The Treasured One. Perhaps the worst book Freamers ever read. And then eventually it gets a little bit interesting the book just takes it away “we are surrounded, the world is lost.
I also didn’t like how undeveloped the characters were in the end Observant readers, be warned.

Ok, I am sorry. But she was no less hell bent on taking over the world. I mean people could die, even though nobody seems to die in the wars after maybe the first one. Despite these major advantages, the Vlagh and the creatures of the Vlagh are not intelligent.
It has been several years since I read anything by David Eddings and reading this book felt like slipping into a comfortable pair of shoes. It felt like they didn’t have an editor. Yaltar, the Dreamer of Veltan, foresees that the Vlagh would attack there and that there would be much killing on both sides. Well, I beg to differ. Some of the ideas presented in the drsamers, such as the idea that all of the elder gods have false memories creamers have only been alive for a short amount of time, are decent but would have worked much better in a short story or stand-alone novel.

As a punter I feel a bit robbed on this with the hardbacks as the rehashing of the story from a mildly different viewpoint is at best misguided and lazy and at worst a money spinner.
May 07, Hilleary rated it it was amazing. But the dreamers aren’t enough and there aren’t enough people in the land of the Dhrall to combat all the minions of the Vlagh. There is a lot of talking and not a lot of doing.
Thanks for telling us about the problem. Eddingw was deceptively shorter than anticipated, but it is only the first of four volumes. The device used to resolve the plot was lazy and self inconsistent. But there’s just so many nagging doubts that I’ve seen in other reviews, that I can’t help but agree with them.
To be fair, we have not yet seen the horse riders of Malavi and the women warriors, although they have been referenced. But Dalhaine felt that they would be of help during the upcoming war against the Vlagh.
