You want very badly for Elaine’s life to work out but with Kura her success leaves more of a “that’s nice” reaction than the”thank heavens” response you have for Elaine. I’m not into explicit sex scenes mzories books, but in loss one, we were told of the punishment Elaine received, but had no idea what was actually happening to make her so afraid of her husband.

Practically every town has an archive that contains the names of the settlers, their farms, and often, details of their lives. Not as well written as the first novel this nonetheless is quite readable and entertaining. I picked this left wanting know what happened to the heroines in the first book. The story oark to veer off track and I noticed dd in the story where it seems entire pages or paragraphs of manuscript were left out.

I think this is a good book for anyone who enjoys historical fiction and would like to learn about New Zealand. I didn’t have any way to fit it in my schedule while I was taking library school classes.

It took me at least the first one hundred pages before I could begin to like this book.
This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. I especially enjoyed the story when it was about Elaine, but didn’t care for Kura who was so self centered and selfish. BUT I prefered this second book to maoriws first one, I prefered the story and the others characters.
