I remember these being so much better, and here laid the holy grail of the series, the one spoken of in whispered awe as the best that I had missed out on, and instead of joy I was only filled with wonder at how it had made it through the publishing process. Shattered Lands Dark Sun: If the other entries in the series are anything like this, I’m going to be indisposed for a bit. Whatever the reason, it just felt like the book was way too fast and I couldn’t really get into Strahd’s motivations or personality.
I have to say, I had really low expectations going into this book but I was pleasantly surprised. Like I said not a bad book but nothing that really stands out in the genre. Sometimes vampires show up in the Dresden Files, which I read, and I also read and enjoyed a Sookie Stackhouse book once upon a time.
The mood and the world are awesome. Mass Market Paperbackpages. I enjoyed the book but I wanted more? It pulls you back and forth not knowing whether to sympathize with him or to laugh at him for the stupid mistakes he made. As good as Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter but takes itself more seriously. Also, this is book one about Strahd. No trivia or quizzes yet.
An added point of enjoyment is the use of the Serbian word for “fear” strah to devise a fitting name for the titular character. The Memoirs of a Vampire by P.

After defeating the ruler of the country of Barovia, Strahd becomes the new ruler. One of those books that Lf could never find was this one. I did start to like Sergei, as he seemed like the most lively character introduced. Even at his most loathsome, though, his honor drives him to protect the weak or at least the loyal and drives him to brutal revenge not only in his own name, but in the names of those who served him so faithfully.

Apparently they reprinted it along with several other books in the series inbut by that point I had long moved on to other things, though had I known Memoris would have probably bought a new copy.

You almost sympathise with his plight – almost. Most of the points will still be there, and it’s still a great read that gives some nice insight into Strahd’s character, but there will be points where the details don’t match up.
An enjoyable read with Strahd coming memiirs as a far darker and more ruthless monster than Bram Stoker’s original. As Strahd grows weary with eternal life, the reader feels that fo of ennui along with him as we have all seen and felt his fall from grace. On the bright side, it memoird give me a good idea of how better to play Strahd when he encounters my players! No sparkling in the sunshine, just the good stuff like bats, and wolfs. What I learned from this book? Overall, the first half was excellent, with a powerful feel of realism maybe more so because I was reading it on a quiet, thundery daybut when it got to the part with Tatyana, it started to lose believability for me.

Despite dying hundreds of times and having apparently “very different” personalities each time, Tatyana never remembers Strahd was the one who murdered her beau and never takes revenge against him, which is lame. The insight offered to that word is truly astounding vampie well worth expanding upon. It just seems like a bunch of episodes strung together.
As things stand, I instead found it at a used bookstore how fitting! Part of my motivation for even starting this vampife was to clean off my shelf, which is overloaded at the moment with unread texts. The Memoirs of a Vampire by P.
And when Vakpire finally brings home his intended bride Tatyana, Stradh is thrown into such despair that he will do anything to gain her affections. I thought I knew much of Strahd’s story, but this shed some light on parts that were unclear and helped develop his character in a manner that added in a positive way.
